When Ray isn’t fighting interdimensional monsters as a super-powered member of the Order of the Key, he searches for people to help in the world beyond the Order. His girlfriend, Lavinia, mocks him for it, reminding where his priorities should lie. On one of his outings, he stumbles upon a raging fire, which he quickly discovers was started by someone with a special ability of her own.

Jaina, a deadly and troubled firestarter with very little control over her power, is running out of options. Compelled to help her, Ray attempts to convince her to join the Order. He truly believes she can do good there, perhaps turn her life around. But Jaina’s not so sure.

Just when Ray starts making progress with Jaina, interdimensionals kidnap him. What he learns in his time with them will unravel everything he’s ever known about his life, his girlfriend, and the Order. Left with Jaina as his only ally, Ray will have to escape and make it back home…if he even has a home left.
