After years of teaming up with other editors as founders of The Inkwell Council, and later as members of the freelance collective CraftQuest, Ismael and Justine now offer solo and combined freelance editing services.
If you’re interested in receiving a sample edit, use the contact form and tell us a little about your manuscript and any deadlines that may apply. We will reach out to discuss our availability and how to submit your pages to us. We’re looking forward to working with you.
Justine has worked in acquisitions and as both a content and line editor at small publishing companies, as a reader in YA lit mags, and in the corporate sector, helping people grammar it up in their legal briefs. She was one of the founding members of The Inkwell Council, an editing trio that ran a monthly lottery and provided the winner a free edit of their first three chapters. She then moved on to join the CraftQuest team as an editor and as one of the panelists for their livestreamed writing advice videos. Most recently she has worked as an editor for Writer In Motion, Query Connection, The Young Inklings Society, and as an Editor-in-Residence at WriteHive. She and her fellow WriteHive editors now host The Word Nerd Cafe podcast.
She also teaches writing classes about craft and navigating the writing business. For a list of available classes, click here. She can be booked through her contact form.
She is a member of The Author’s Guild, SCBWI, NWU, and the EFA. Her complete writing and editing resume can be found at J. Manzano Writer_Editor Resume.
Ismael was the co-founder of The Inkwell Council and served as a member of CraftQuest’s freelance editor team. He has worked as a developmental editor for Champagne Books and currently splits his time freelancing between Manzano Editorial and
Jeni Chappelle Editorial.
